The history of the City Palace is linked to the Mewar state, in which there have been different capitals. First Mewar Maharana Guhil, Nagda was founded in 568. Later Sisodia shifted it to Chittor. Maharana Udai Singh II ruled Mewar in 1537. Mughal conflict, Chittor Fort was in trouble. Maharana Uday Singh II chose a new capital for his kingdom at Lake Pichola, Surrounded by forests, lakes and Aravalli hills.
The City Palace was built by the successors of Maharana Udai Singh II. more than 400 years. This medieval castle served as Maharana's Administration Complex.
The "Rai Aangan" was the first royal building built in the city. Palace Complex. After that Maharana Pratap ruled Udaipur. Maharana Pratap's life was a struggle. After the death of his father, Maharana Pratap fought the battle of Haldighati; in this battle he had half the soldiers as the Mughals, and he did not even have modern weapons compared to the Mughals, but he fought with the Mughals firmly! Yet this war did not end, after some time Maharana Pratap attacked Akbar and took back all the forts of Mewar.
After Akbar's death, Jahangir surrendered Mewar to Amar Singh, conceding defeat to Amar Singh, son of Maharana Pratap. Pratap's son Amar Singh I. In 1761, the Marathas again attacked Udaipur. Maharana Bhim Singh asked the British to protect Mewar in 1818. Mewar later remained a part of democratic Indian Independence, and its kings kept their Udaipur palaces.
The City Palace was erected by 22 generations of Sisodia Rajputs, commencing in 1559. Udai Singh II and other Maharanas helped build this structure. The complex consists of 11 tiny palaces and various constructions.
The palace property's interiors are very impressive. Mirrors, marble, murals, wall paintings, silver, inlay, and colourful glass embellish the balconies, towers, and cupolas.
